Many get overwhelmed at the thought of change. Change can be scary, or if you choose to look at it as an opportunity it can become a journey of blessings. We are going to give a brief walk through our way of living natural through everyday lifestyle, and how the choice to make that change carries blessings.
Principles
Live the way that nature intended for us. That is whenever possible we choose the natural over chemicals. We follow the laws of nature rather than trying to bend them to our will, even if that means a little extra work instead of the easy way out.
Be conscious of your environment. We want the Earth to be a better place not only so that we can live in harmony with it. But so that animals & plant species do not fall endangered.
Natural living is an everyday way of life, and we make time to do it right. Eat fresh foods, spend time outside growing food & herbs, meditate & never stop learning.
Choose organic instead of pesticides and preservatives. There’s no need for your food to be put through a chemical wringer, the damage to your body can be irreversible. Supporting the use of chemicals is damaging to the worlds supply of food, to the animals that create the circle of life, and to the ever-increasing natural disasters occurring.
Local before international. Transport miles are incredibly damaging to the eco-system when we can, we choose local products. This also supports the families that are working hard in our backyards. Minimizing a middleman also cuts cost and saves your families funds.
Flow with the seasons. Seasonal produce is natural untreated produce. The world has seasons, so does our bodies.
Your environment. Use house cleaners, self-care products, and yard care that is naturally derived. Check the source of your supplement ingredients as well.
You see, natural living doesn’t have to be complicated. You can interpret these principles into what makes sense for you and your family as well as your region. Some people may choose to do more than others, that doesn’t mean anyone is wrong. The more you choose to change the more benefits your health will gain. But some alternatives are always better than no alternatives.
Benefits Of Natural Living
A better world for our children. Natural living is eco-friendly. If we want our children to thrive on this planet, we need to leave them a planet worth living on.
A better world for ourselves. Did you know that 90% of people are subject to air pollution every day of their lives? If we can make choices inside the walls of our home to create a clean environment the body has a chance to breathe, function, heal, and rejuvenate. Making for a longer lasting, better feeling, healthier life.
Better health for us and our families. When you consume natural products – you are consuming products that nature intended for your body. Man made chemicals may or may not be harmful, but why risk it? So many mental disorders, and physical illness are caused by what we consume. These same issues can also be treated or eliminated by diet. So, within the treatment is proof that if you had lived the better choices from the beginning your health and quality of life would be much greater. These decisions also trickle down to our children, wouldn’t you rather say no to candy then say yes to medication that comes with a slew of side effects? Side effects that include self esteem issues in our children when they question why they need to be medicated? Children are the greatest gift we have, cherish them. Love them, even if that means decisions they might momentarily be upset about.
Less stress. Many natural living approaches are designed to minimize stress, and this makes us happier and more peaceful. Oxidative stress wreaks havoc on the body. When we stress our body experiences headaches, heartburn, rapid breathing and anxiety attacks with pounding heart beats, fertility problems, erectile dysfunction, low sexual drive, stomach pain, high blood pressure, weekend immune system, tense muscles, eating disorders, insomnia, and increased depression. All of which have even more symptoms. When you feel overtaken by stress try meditation, yoga, a walk in nature, or get lost in a hobby you enjoy. When you choose an alternative to stress you literally choose added years to your life full of happiness. Reiki energy work by Heritage Haven will help you to release stress.
The foods you consume
It is easy to choose the “quick fix” when life is in a rush. Making time for the farmers market is a great way to keep your diet fresh and in season. However, there are options for those that may not have the time to dedicate. Ordering a co-op box with local goods delivered to your home is another great option. Another option is to order online from Whole foods for delivery to your home. Once you find the source that fits your needs. Create healthy habits within that source. For example, if certain vegetables are a need for your genetics but that vegetable is unavailable or maybe not appealing. Try our microgreens at Heritage Haven that can be ordered fresh and grown in any variety of flavors. Microgreens to throw in a smoothie or salad to get a powerhouse of your vegetable dose in one little stem.
Big organizations that manage our food supply count a fruit snack as part of your daily fruit intake. Do not be fooled by these recommendations. Fruit snacks might be easy to grab and sweet to the taste, however these snacks also come with a hefty sugar punch along with many other chemicals. Big agg spins verbiage on produce to entice buyers into buying big brands that sponsor them. “Cage free” eggs does not mean the same as “Free range, organic, non-gmo” eggs. Educate yourself in the verbiage on containers if you are not buying from a local supplier.
A few quick tips on taking control of your consumables…
Wherever possible buy unprocessed foods. That is vegetables, fruits, beans, grains, nuts and when you buy meat, fish and chicken avoid the deli counter and buy unprocessed products. Build a relationship with the local meat processor. Many times of the year they clear out meat lockers when customers do not come back to pick up their processed meats, you can buy a locker of game or free range ranch meat at a discounted rate.
Buy local as your priority. Supporting farmers and ranchers in your backyard sustains local economy, and supply for the community.
Buy organic if you can. Organic and non-gmo foods do not contain harmful chemicals. You are also supporting farmers that are choosing to work longer harder hours to grow food without pesticides that keep bugs out of the crops, or fertilizers that help them produce more income. That is dedication to your work, and they deserve to be supported. Farmers that use fertilizer also must use gmo seed which means it has been genetically modified to sustain the damage of the chemicals. So those modifications are being passed to your body.. creating puberty at an early age, mental disorders, and obesity. You can check the EWG pesticides guide if you want to find out more about what you’re eating.
Visit farmer’s markets in preference to grocery stores. Buying your food directly from small farms can make a massive difference in the quality of produce to hit your table. There are over 8700 famer’s markets in the US according to the National Farmer’s Market Directory which you can reference for both in person markets as well as online markets to order from.
Cook your own meals. Restaurant chains are often doing nothing more than heating up a ready meal and even in more bespoke restaurant offerings, you can’t get a clear idea of what’s in the dishes. Cooking or baking can be a relaxing time of meditation for some. Like any other thing in your life, when you put love into what you are doing, the intention shows in what you produce. So even if you are new to the scene in the kitchen, if you put love and good intention into the meal you are preparing, you will become a master. Enjoy Heritage Haven’s “Wellness Cooking” cookbook guide or follow our Facebook album of recipe ideas.
Use Sustainable food storage solutions Check out products like Heritage Haven Bees Wrap Food Wraps. Glass or wood containers are a good option as well. Repurposing the “old” is always a timeless tradition to choose healthier. Many mason jar products can be found at antique stores or your grandmothers’ storage. Avoid aluminum as aluminum builds between cells causing dementia and Alzheimer’s in old age as well as many other health conditions.
Switching household over to natural
Choose cookware that is cast iron, ceramic or stainless steel. Non-stick coatings may be convenient, but they’re also linked to toxicity. Grilling over salt blocks is not only fun and tastes amazing but also benefits the body. Stoneware for baking is a very natural way that has been around for ages. Cooking in cast iron or stone also improves the flavor of your food.
Choose natural fibers. Change your clothes, bed sheets, towels, etc. to fabrics made from organic cotton, bamboo, wool, etc. Much of China made clothing is high in lead within the clothing dye. Again, supporting local is always best. So many mothers create the most darling children’s ware while supporting their families. Heritage Haven also offers a cloth diaper option to avoid harmful chemicals and irritation to our babies. Check out Heritage Havens Naturalist Clothing.
Choose natural beauty. First, you should educate yourself on the clean beauty movement. Read No More Dirty Looks for the ultimate guide to safe and clean cosmetics. For smarter options Mary Kay now follows the European standards, Seint Beauty is much cleaner than most, and Beauty Counter has very good reviews with clean products. More specifically ditch anything with parabens, artificial fragrances, sulfates, etc. Heritage Haven has a line of skin care products that are all Tallow & beeswax based with herbal benefits.
Choose natural personal products. Many of the mainstream menstruation products are infused with chemicals to extend your menstruation so that the big companies sell more product. This in turn causes damage to the body within the reproductive system and your hormone balances. Choosing products that are organic cotton, hemp, or other natural options are your safest bet. Treating vaginal issues or hemorrhoid issues with witch hazel or sovereign silver is a great alternative to medicated creams or antibiotics.
Choose natural cleaning products. Vinegar is better than window cleaning fluid and it’s natural. Look for safe, eco-friendly ingredients. Essential oil blends make a very safe alternative to standard home cleaners that are full of chemicals. Heritage Haven has many already blended options for home care as well as essential oils to blend your own. For a more natural kitchen clean up tasks you should consider using our bio-cloth dish towels. Switch out that laundry soap too! The ingredients in laundry soap end up in your bloodstream, not so fun fact of the day! Also, the chemicals in dryer sheets are so toxic that the manufacturers have to dispose of the mixtures as “Toxic waste”… and yet that is what is on your clothes, rubbing your skin until it enters the bloodstream and becomes a part of your cells. Those cells our now altered creating a pathway for illness. Heritage Haven creates natural laundry soap, & dryer ball spritz with 100% wool dryer balls available.
