The Buzz around Red Light Therapy

ree

We have all seen the selfies full of the red glow while people are ever basking under Red Light Therapy. So what is all the fuss about and where did this come from?

The holistic healing realm is always expanding with more and more modalities to support wellness naturally. Red Light therapy was actually developed in the 1960’s. Endure Mester was a Hungarian physician that was conducting a scientific experiment on rats with the use of red lights. He found that these rats had increased hair growth and a faster rate of wound healing. For many years the scientific community has sidelined continued research on this discovery calling it “bogus”. It is only recently that researches are going back to these studies. The new research began to turn heads, like Dr. Aran said “Right now in the United States, Red light therapy is still considered non-mainstream science. But there are growing academic and clinical centers adopting the technology and making it available to patients.

One of those centers is the Solex Corporation. Solex has developed two red light devices designed to aid the body. One being the Illuminator combining red light therapy with therapeutic warmth to ad in skin transformation. The red light enhances tissue rejuvenation and stimulated collagen to improve skin health. The Therapeutic warmth increases the absorption of skincare products by enhancing kin permeability and blood flow. Obviously this device is very much to skin health. Although the next red light model that Solex designed is the 660 band. This band is worn as a bracelet with the light focused over the inside of your wrist were the blood vessels are closest to the skin as well as a major artery. This allows the band to offer red light to the blood and carrying the benefits throughout the body. The benefits include improved circulation to provide proper oxygen and nutrient flow to the entire body. Thus creating wound healing, sharper brain and a healthier heart. Aside from Solex’s very unique and extraordinary discoveries there are endless options on the market today for red light lamps. These lamps provide support to your entire body as you bask under them. All in all no matter the devices you choose, the benefits are very much worth this low cost therapy. Some other benefits include,

Because of the great results we have seen over the years with this great therapy more centers are now opening up to more studies. Shepherd University are now dedicated to educating healthcare professionals and scientists about the legitimacy of Red light. So lets break down their studies, how does this all work? Photobiomodulation is the utilization of wavelengths of light between 400 nanometers (NM BLUE) and up to 1,200 NM (Near-Infrared). 1,200 NM of light may look red but is actually invisible to the eye. This kind of light heats the body from the inside to drive the physiological changes to reach balance. You find this light strength in infrared saunas. Most devices used in therapy are between 600 NM and 1000 NM. Red light therapy devices produce photons or particles of light that when placed near the skin penetrate the tissues to activate chromophores. When the chromophores are penetrated with the light, a change in the cell is triggered and this is when the benefits begin. Another great discovery is the effect to the Mitochondria cells. Mitochondria is the energy within a cell that promotes the healing, so you can only imagine the benefits when the therapy can reach all the way to the mitochondria and awaken healing throughout the body. At the end of the day Red light therapy is what awakens your cells with the message “Let’s get this job done” and send them off like little repairmen throughout the body. - I think that is a fantastic reason to go bask in the red light at Heritage Havens or ask about how to get one of our Solex devices in your home for daily use.

I say that with the acceptation that this blog is written based off of holistic practices and researches. It should not be used as a medical diagnosis or to replace your medical treatments. Anyone with photosensitizing conditions such as lupus or taking photosensitizing drugs such as tetracycline, doxycycline, hydrochlorothiazide, or naproxen should avoid red light therapy.

Consistency is also key when choosing red light therapy. While you may feel immediate results in mood and mental state, most lasting changes take multiple consistent sessions to reach results. All in all Red light therapy is a very promising treatment while generally considered to be safe. Heritage Havens feels blessed to be able to offer this fantastic option to our community.
